About the Course
The NRASTC is a supervision and rescue award for TA’s, swimming teacher, coaches and instructors working during programmed activities. It is suitable for all those working in a wide range of swimming pools, including pools where the water is deeper than your standing depth. The award is designed for swimming teachers, coaches and or instructors of aquatic swimming lessons from babies through to adults, and valid for 2 years
For those who have not completed before will complete two days. If you are renewing their valid NRASTC qualification, or their NRASTC has expired but wanting to complete a 1 day course and have Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is a process of recognising a candidate’s previous award which can be used towards part of the NRASTC qualification.
Qualifications recognised for RPL are:
First Aid at Work Certificate
Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate
Paediatric First Aid Certificate
This may include online training producing a certificate
Where candidates wish to claim a training RPL, they MUST provide course trainers with original qualifications on the day and copies with the application form If you have no RPL online training and questions will be sent from Aqualife Training Services
Candidates must be 16 years of age and be confident in deep water and able to swim 25m on front and 25m on back. If you are renewing your qualification, you must complete the course 2 years prior to the expiry date.

Information For Everyone
All Swimming Teacher, Coaches, those wanting to complete their Level 1 and Level 2 Swimming Teachers Qualification and Teaching Assistance who accompany students to Swimming Pools
- The Teacher. Swimming pool and class management
- Intervention rescue and emergency action
- CPR and First Aid
The assessment is assessed by and external assessor, no written exam, practical and verbal demonstrations. All Assessment Criteria in the units must be achieved.
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course per trainer for onsite course. The cost of the course is £1200.00.
Individual cost will £120 per person for a one day course and £152 for new candidates as per website. This cost will include all equipment, books and RLSS IQL certificates
