RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches (nRASTC 7th Edition)

About the Course

The NRASTC is a supervision and rescue award for TA’s, swimming teachers, coaches and instructors working during programmed activities. It is suitable for all those working in a wide range of swimming pools, including pools where the water is deeper than your standing depth. The award is designed for swimming teachers, coaches and or instructors of aquatic swimming lessons from babies through to adults, and valid for 2 years. A valid First Aid qualification needs to presented with the application form if your NRASTC qualification has expired cost for a 1 day course £124.00

The NRASTC LIGHT is a supervision and rescue award for TA’s, swimming teachers, coaches and or instructors working during programmed activities, such as a swimming lesson when Lifeguard or First Aid backup is available to respond quickly in the event of an emergency. It is suitable for teachers working in a wide range of swimming pools, including pools where the water is deeper than the teacher’s standing depth. The award is designed for swimming teachers, coaches and or instructors of aquatic swimming lessons from babies through to adults, valid for 2 years. An Emergency First Aid at Work qualification will be awarded on the day with a Teams session to completed prior to the course date. This certification lasts for 3 years and is included in the cost for a 1 day course £164.00

NRASTC has expired but wanting to complete a 1 day course and have Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is a process of recognising a candidate’s previous award which can be used towards part of the NRASTC qualification.

Qualifications recognised for RPL are:

First Aid at Work Certificate

Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate

Paediatric First Aid Certificate

This may include online training producing a certificate

Where candidates wish to claim a training RPL, they MUST provide course trainers with original qualifications on the day and copies with the application form If you have no RPL online training and questions will be sent from Aqua Life Training Services

Pre-Requisites for both courses

Candidates must be 16 years of age and be confident in deep water and able to swim 25m on front and 25m on back, surface dive to the deepest part of the pool, 1.5m,2.0m,2.5m, climb out without help and or using the steps and be able to tow someone.

If you are renewing your qualification, you must complete the course 2 years prior to the expiry date or have a valid First Aid certificate.

Information For Everyone

This qualification is for all Swimming Teacher, Coaches, those wanting to complete their Level 1 and Level 2 Swimming Teachers Qualification and Teaching Assistance who accompany students to Swimming Pools

Course Content

  • The Teacher. Swimming pool and class management
  • Intervention rescue and emergency action
  • CPR and First Aid

Assessment

The assessment is assessed by and external assessor, no written exam, practical and verbal demonstrations. All Assessment Criteria in the units must be achieved.
